Membership
Allegheny County Hazardous Materials Team Station 450 is always in search of new members. Due to the specialized nature of the team, personnel interested in joining must have completed some hazardous materials training prior to applying.
Applicant Requirements & Minimum Training
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a United States citizen
- Have no felony convictions and no convictions of acts of dishonesty
- Have two years of frontline emergency responder experience
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have completed the following training: hazardous materials awareness (6 hours), hazardous materials operations (24 hours), current hazardous materials operations refresher within one year, ICS-100 and ICS-200 (FEMA Independent Study)
- Hold ProBoard certification for Hazardous Materials Awareness
Expectations
- Acknowledge on membership application that you will serve a one year Probationary Period
- Ability to participate in monthly training from September to June each year and other training to meet training requirements set by PEMA
- Complete and pass Hazmat 450 SCBA Competency Program
- Commitment to completing ProBoard Certification for Hazardous Materials Operations during probationary period, and be enrolled in Hazardous Materials Technician training and ProBoard certification during the probationary period.
- Complete IS-700 and IS-800 by the time enrolled into Hazardous Materials Technician Training (FEMA Independent Study)
- Be physically capable of performing Hazardous Materials Technician tasks and duties
